3 Ways You Can Directly Support LGBTQIA+ Artists This Pride Month (June 2021)
This Pride Month, HEADS on TV is highlighting three (3) fantastic LGBTQIA+ organizations whose missions align with supporting and funding artists in the LGBTQIA+ communities, in addition to uplifting BIPOC voices in the process.
If you’re unable to donate, please consider following their social media channels to stay up-to-date on their efforts (linked below)!
ALLIES IN ARTS
“Allies in Arts is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our mission is to support artists who are womxn, BIPOC, and LGBTQQIA2S — all of whom are underrepresented individuals in creative industries.
Artists from our communities face barriers as a direct result of race, gender, sex, and sexual orientation. We seek to break down those barriers by awarding grants, curating exhibitions and screenings, and connecting artists with the decision-makers who can hire them.”

QUEER|ART
“QUEER|ART was launched in 2009 to support a generation of LGBTQ+ artists that lost mentors to the AIDS Crisis of the 1980s. By fostering the confident expression of LGBTQ+ artists’ perspectives, stories, and identities, Queer|Art amplifies the voice of a population that has been historically suppressed, disenfranchised, and often overlooked by traditional institutional and economic support systems.
Our programs are organized under three major areas of support — PRACTICE (Creative and Professional Development), PRESENTS (Events, Exhibitions, and other Public Presentations), and AWARDS (Residencies, Grants, and Prizes). Each of these areas of support operate across four fields of creative practice: Film, Performance, Visual Art, and Literature.”
